Discover why DBZ is committed to creating sustainable t-shirts in Australia.

Sustainable Commitment
With incremental changes for right now, and larger goals for the future, our sustainability efforts are always growing. We recognise that we have a responsibility towards our planet, and the people involved in making our clothes.
We see it as our responsibility to not only help our customers look good, but also feel good, in the knowledge that we have carefully considered the materials used as well as the processes involved in creating our collections for them. Understanding what something will be made of and how it will be made are prerequisites for us before any design goes into production.

What we’ve achieved so far:

Responsible packaging practices
Death By Zero is committed to seek sustainable packaging options and to adopt more responsible packaging practices. Packaging must help protect the products so our customers enjoy their purchases, but it should not be a burden on the Planet.
Plastic is widely used in fashion. From Polyester found in clothing, to plastic involved in shipping products, to labelling and shopping bags or online mailers.
40% of plastic produced globally is used for packaging applications. Plastic is made from non- renewable petrochemical resources. Its production requires significant amounts of energy which generates carbon emissions.
12% of the 5.4 million tonnes of packaging placed on the Australian market in 2017-18 is not recyclable through conventional waste and recycling recovery facilities.
Another 32% recyclable packaging is not adequately sorted and collected in a way that facilitates recycling and reuse.
Wherever possible our aim is to reduce the amount of plastic packaging.
We have ceased the use of individual bagging and are using recycled cardboard and paper cartons for delivery of international and domestic wholesale freight.

Reduced Water Consumption
Our cotton is produced in factories using innovative water saving techniques. Specialist machinery and techniques can use up to 89% less water than traditional methods.

Plant-Based Dyes
Organic natural dyes use agricultural waste or non-edible natural compounds like leaves and nut shells. This process uses much less water and synthetic chemicals than regular dyes and supports the local economy of harvesting these materials.

Ink Consumption
Our Ink Consumption comes from established partners who share a global environmental responsibility, including a 90% reduction of CO2 emissions across the life cycle of all products and services by 2050.  Our ink and printing partners are working to preserve the natural environment by adopting products that treat lightly on the earth.
